Dr. Capt. Issa Awad Hasan

Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Master Mariner · Ph.D. in Maritime Transport & Logistics · 40+ years in ship operations, chartering, marine insurance and claims · Certified marine expert, Jordanian courts

Dr. Capt. Issa Awad Hasan is a Master Mariner (F.G.) with over four decades in the maritime industry, having served aboard forty vessels from deck cadet to Master in full command. He holds a Ph.D. in Maritime Transport and Logistics (Augusta University, USA), a Ph.D. in Maritime Studies (Universiti Malaysia Terengganu), an MBA, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law (London).

Over his career he has founded and led major shipping and ship-management companies across Jordan, the UAE, and the Gulf, and served as President of the Jordan Maritime Association (2005–2011). He is an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute (London), a certified marine expert before the Jordanian courts, and was named First-Class Distinguished Trainer of the Year 2022 by the Arab Trainers Union.

Capt. Tamim Al Imam is an Unlimited F.G. Master Mariner and one of the region’s leading specialists in maritime education, training, and accreditation. He holds a B.Sc. in Maritime Technology (Marine Survey) and is a Certified Maritime Auditor in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021-1 and ISO 19011, and Lead Auditor in ISO 9001, ISO 21001, ISO 24438, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

Following a seagoing career aboard international cargo vessels from Officer of the Watch to Master, he has led landmark projects across the MENA region — including STCW-compliant simulator installation and integration, institutional ISO and DNV accreditations, and IMO Model Course curriculum development in Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Libya. He pioneered the world’s first remote simulator training solution during COVID-19 and led the first worldwide implementation of ISO 24438 for maritime education and training. He is a Member of the Nautical Institute (MNI), IRCA/CQI, IAMCS, and the International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA).

Eng. Suha N. Abu Zeid

Eng. Suha Abu Zeid is an Environmental Engineer with over ten years of experience in marine compliance, pollution control, and environmental impact assessment. She is an IRCA-certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, trained in IMO Member State Audit Scheme (IMSAS) auditing, and a Registered Expert on the e-Roster of the International Maritime Organization’s Technical Cooperation Division.

She designs and implements integrated management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and conducts gap analyses, internal audits, and compliance reviews in accordance with ISO 19011. Her marine environmental work includes contributing to Jordan’s National Biofouling Management Status Assessment submitted to PERSGA, membership of the National Marine Biofouling Policy Committee with the Jordan Maritime Commission, and speaking as an invited panelist at the 3rd GloFouling R&D Forum in Busan under the IMO–GEF–UNDP GloFouling Partnership. She is also an accredited FIATA trainer and curriculum author.

Capt. Adam Banoura

Capt. Adam Banoura holds an Unlimited Master’s Certificate of Competency and a B.Sc. in Maritime Shipping Technology from Al-Balqa Applied University, from which he graduated with distinction. He currently serves as a Lecturer and Instructor at Al-Balqa Applied University and the Aqaba Maritime Education and Training Center.

His seagoing career spans oil/chemical tankers, OBO carriers, and bulk carriers, serving from Deck Cadet through Chief Officer with operators including ADNOC, Sea Bright Ship Management, and Phoenicia Maritime. He holds advanced certifications in oil and chemical tanker cargo operations, dangerous goods handling (IMDG Code — Basic and Advanced), GMDSS, ship handling and maneuvering, and type-specific ECDIS (JRC and FURUNO), combining recent hands-on tanker operations experience with maritime instruction.

Ms. Hanan Omar Aldabas

Ms. Hanan Aldabas holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Business Administration with distinction, both from the University of Jordan. She manages student registration and services at Polaris, overseeing enrollment procedures, verification of application documents, student records, and coordination with academic departments.

Her background combines educational administration with maritime logistics, having previously coordinated shipping operations for a maritime agency — handling shipment documentation, scheduling, and communication with shipping lines and clients. She is known for accurate, well-organized administration and a strong commitment to student and customer satisfaction.

Ms. Rawan Al-Badayineh

Administration and Follow-Up Department

Ms. Rawan Al-Badayineh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Al-Balqa Applied University, with professional experience in program coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and administrative follow-up. She has coordinated educational and training programs, organized workshops and events, and supported program implementation and reporting.

Her background includes serving as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer on a USAID-funded project, where she collected and analyzed performance data, tracked progress against plans, and prepared analytical reports in compliance with donor requirements. She is a certified trainer (TOT — IBCT) with additional training in project management and human resources, bringing structured follow-up, accurate documentation, and clear reporting to the department’s work.

Capt. Abdel Nasser Alsheikh Yousef

Capt. Abdel Nasser Alsheikh Yousef is a Master Mariner (F.G.) and maritime executive with over 30 years of experience spanning operational command, senior management, and maritime education. He holds dual Doctorates in Business Administration (Logistics; Risk Assessment), an M.Sc. in Sustainability Assessment of Port Operation Management from Plymouth University (UK), and a licensed Marine Surveyor credential from the Jordan Maritime Authority.

His seagoing career covers 16 years aboard general cargo, bulk, container, chemical tanker, Ro-Ro passenger, and high-speed craft, including service as Sea Trial Captain and supervision of high-speed Ro-Ro Pax newbuildings. Ashore, he has served as General Manager of Phoenicia Maritime Shipping Services and Head of the Nautical Department at the Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies. He is a CQI/IRCA-certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor, certified simulator instructor, an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute (AFNI), and a member of IMLA.

Capt. Saifeddin Saquer

Capt. Saifeddin Saquer is a Master Mariner with a Master’s degree in Total Quality Management (with excellence) from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology. He is an EMSA-approved expert and listed among the STCW competent persons maintained by the IMO Secretary-General under Section A-I/7 of the STCW Code.

He currently serves as Deputy General Manager of the Maritime Advisory Coalition, following senior roles including General Manager of Phoenicia Maritime Shipping Services, Managing Director of Dolphin Marine Surveys — representing international certification bodies and conducting class, cargo, on/off-hire, draft, and condition surveys — and Quality Manager / DPA / Company Security Officer for Arab Ship Management. He is one of Jordan’s most experienced institutional excellence assessors, having served as Lead Assessor across more than ten rounds of the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence Awards and as an assessor for the Egypt Government Excellence Award and Abu Dhabi Excellence Award.

Dr. Eng. Mohamed Khier Kanaan

Chief Marine Engineer — Marine Engineering Expert

Dr. Eng. Mohamed Khier Kanaan is a Chief Marine Engineer (Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Alexandria) with a Ph.D. and Master’s in Business Management specializing in Total Quality Management, plus a Diploma in Educational Qualification from Damascus University. He currently heads the Marine Engineering Studies Department at AMETC / Al-Balqa Applied University, where he has been a Senior Lecturer since 2016.

His career includes 19 years of seagoing experience as Chief Engineer aboard oil and chemical tankers and AHTS vessels with operators including ADNATCO, ADNOC, and ARAMCO, marine survey work for IRS in Tartous, and service as Technical Superintendent for Phoenicia Maritime. He is an accredited assessor and examiner for marine engineers, a certified trainer of the Arab Trainers Union, and a consultant-rank mechanical engineer with membership in IMarEST (UK) and the Jordanian and Syrian engineers associations.

Eng. Shawqi Fawzi Asi

Chief Marine Engineer — Tanker Operations & Marine Engineering Expert

Eng. Shawqi Asi is a Chief Marine Engineer with more than 35 years of experience in marine engineering, tanker operations, technical management, and maritime education. His seagoing career with United Arab Shipping Company and the Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company progressed from Trainee Engineer to Chief Engineer aboard general cargo vessels, container ships, oil tankers, and LPG carriers.

He served as Owner’s Representative and Machinery Inspector at Hyundai Shipyard in Korea, supervising construction of two 105K AFRAMAX oil tankers, and later as Technical Superintendent for Arab Ship Management. He has conducted third-party inspections of LPG, product, and VLCC tankers, and currently lectures at AMETC / Al-Balqa Applied University in marine engineering, tanker operations, safety management, and STCW management-level courses, with published training notes in marine control and instrumentation.

Capt. Emad Abu Alhaj

Capt. Emad Abu Alhaj is a Master Mariner (Arab Academy for Science and Technology, with high score) with 16 years of seagoing service as navigating officer and Master. For over a decade he served as General Manager of Baltic Control in Jordan, leading marine surveys, inspections, and audits — including draft, quantity and quality, on/off-hire, pre-purchase, condition, and load test surveys, class representation, ship safety inspection, and ISM/ISPS auditing.

He is an accredited surveyor and auditor for Panama Maritime Documentation Services and the International Naval Surveys Bureau (INSB), and an IFIA surveyor for petroleum and petroleum products as well as vegetable oils and fats. He currently lectures at Al-Balqa Applied University’s marine section in ship stability, cargo handling, and marine surveys, and holds recent certifications in maritime security (PFSO) and maritime cyber awareness from the UK Department for Transport.

Capt. Amin Al-Qawasmeh

Capt. Amin Al-Qawasmeh is a Master Mariner (STCW Reg. II/2 — Unlimited) and Marine Operations Manager with over 13 years of progressive experience spanning sea command, fleet operations, regulatory compliance, and shore-based maritime leadership. He currently serves as Marine Superintendent, Marine Operations Manager, and Fleet Designated Person Ashore (DPA) at Phoenicia Maritime Shipping Services in Aqaba, where he has maintained a fleet record of zero detentions and zero major PSC/ISM non-conformities while managing multi-million-dollar operating budgets.

His expertise covers ISM implementation, flag state and class liaison (DNV, ABS, NKK), crew management and auditing, dry-docking and technical projects, and environmental and decarbonization compliance including SEEMP, IMO DCS, EEXI, and Engine Power Limitation programs. He is a CQI/IRCA-certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor, IMO-trained IMSAS auditor, and certified Designated Person Ashore (The Nautical Institute, UK). His seagoing service progressed to Chief Officer aboard passenger, general cargo, bulk, livestock, and OBO tanker vessels. He also lectures in maritime studies at Al-Balqa Applied University — covering celestial navigation, ship stability, and maritime law — and publishes widely on maritime regulation, decarbonization, and vessel technology. He is a member of The Nautical Institute and the Jordan Maritime Association.
