AMETC / BAU Registration through Polaris
Polaris Marine Survey and Consultation is the strategic partner of Aqaba Maritime Education and Training Center (AMETC) at Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU). Seafarers and students register for AMETC courses and programmes through Polaris, and our team handles the documentation, logistics and follow-up from registration until your certificates are delivered.

Who does what
Each party has a clear role, so you always know who trains you, who certifies you and who supports you.
AMETC / BAU
Aqaba Maritime Education and Training Center is part of Al-Balqa Applied University, a Jordanian public university. AMETC delivers the training, the courses and the upgrading studies.
Regulation & certification
AMETC operates under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Jordan Maritime Commission (JMC). Certificates of Competency and Proficiency are issued by the JMC.

We handle your documentation, logistics and follow-up, and assist you at every step from registration until your certificates are delivered.
Registration types
Renewal of COC
Renew your Certificate of Competency with the Refresher and Updating Training course and any STCW certificates that need renewing. Requires at least 12 months of sea service in the last 5 years, or 3 months in the last 6 months.
Upgrading studies
Upgrade to 2nd Mate, Chief Mate, Master, 3rd Engineer, 2nd Engineer, Chief Engineer or ETO, including the JMC examinations. Candidates without a COC can start upgrading studies to 2nd Mate or 3rd Engineer.
STCW training courses
Basic safety, security, tanker, medical, GMDSS and other STCW courses, with the matching Certificates of Proficiency where they apply.
JMC services
Certificate issuing, endorsements, evaluation exams for certificates not issued by Jordan, and other Jordan Maritime Commission services.

Create your account on the Polaris registration page, choose your request type and rank, and upload your documents.
Document review
Our team checks your COC, STCW certificates and sea service, confirms which courses you need and sends you your fees.
Enrolment at AMETC
We complete your enrolment with AMETC, arrange the logistics and confirm your course schedule.
Exams & certificates
You attend your courses and exams; we follow up with AMETC and the JMC until your certificates are delivered to you.
Documents and fees
Documents to prepare
Passport; copy of your COC; all STCW certificates; Seaman’s Book; sea service letter; personal photo; and a valid medical certificate or a medical examination not older than one month. Upgrading without a Jordanian COC or without a COC also needs your previous COCs or your High School Certificate.
Fees
Your total is calculated in the registration form from your request type, rank and courses: AMETC course fees, JMC fees and any Polaris fees. JMC fees differ for Jordanians and non-Jordanians, and some certificates need JMC approval.
Frequently asked questions
Do I register with AMETC directly or with Polaris?
Register on the Polaris registration page. We prepare your file, handle the documentation and logistics, and follow up with AMETC for you until your certificates are delivered.
Can non-Jordanian seafarers register?
Yes. Enter your passport number instead of a national number. A COC not issued by Jordan needs a JMC evaluation exam, and JMC fees follow the non-Jordanian rate.
Who issues my certificates?
AMETC issues its course certificates, and the Jordan Maritime Commission issues Certificates of Competency and Proficiency. Polaris does not issue certificates; we handle your registration, documentation, logistics and follow-up until delivery.
